ABOUT ME

How I Got Here

As a journalist, I love telling stories...including my own. The path to where I am today has been an up-and-down rollercoaster as it is for many college students. In fact, I didn't even want to become a journalist until my junior year of high school. I wasn't specifically a news journalist until my junior year of college.

I grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado my entire life until moving out to the University of Missouri for college. Mizzou has become a second home to me the minute I walked through the six marble columns on the quad. I wasn't even looking at MU for journalism until my mom decided she thought I should tour it and like most moms...she was right. Attending one of the most renowned and advanced journalism schools in the country has been an honor to say the least.

Through the Missouri Method, I was able to report weekly for KOMU 8 News (NBC) and also create visualizing graphics for the Columbia Missourian.

Thanks to the work I was able to accomplish at KOMU 8, I landed my first job outside college with WSLS 10 News in Roanoke, Virginia. There I was able to tell the stories of people living in Southwest Virginia. It felt a little like home with being in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains but they're still no Rocky Mountains.

When I'm not in the newsroom you can find me spending time with friends or talking with family back home. The only reason you wouldn't find me there is if a Denver Broncos football game were on. In that case, my eyes are glued to the television.

I believe there is a lot of good in the world that people don't talk about or tend to forget. It's one of the reasons I fight to tell compelling and emotional stories. News outlets today are filled with such dark and sad content that I think the stories of good people doing good things should be just as important.

I am excited to see where my story continues to go. It's adding a new line to my script, a new sequence to my timeline, and a new element to my journey.
